Last week on Comedy Central’s Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert announced he was handing over his Super PAC (American’s for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow) to his good friend and business associate Jon Stewart. Colbert simultaneously launched an exploratory committee as a he mulled a run for president.

Current rules state that Colbert cannot run a political action committee (PAC) that supports his own candidacy, thus the Colbert Super PAC became the Stewart Super PAC.

Now Stewart has released his first attack ad and it’s against Mitt Romney. The attack claims that if corporations are people, then “Mitt Romney is a serial killer.”

In a press release, Stewart spoke sarcastically about the “hardship” of running a Super PAC and encouraged people to watch his new ad:

“Hi again, it’s me, Jon. When I took over this Super PAC, I had no idea there’d be so much email-writing. Also, there are a lot of plants around Super PAC office with extremely specific watering schedules. Seriously, does a Northwood Spotted Fern really need to be watered ‘thrice fortnightly at dusk’? Anyway, The Definitely Not Coordinated With Stephen Colbert Super PAC made an ad, and I figured you’d want to know. I’ve attached the press release below, so hopefully your mouse’s scroll-wheel isn’t broken.”

Both comedians have managed to turn the political system on it’s head, not only showing the ridiculous conflict of interest between who can own the PACs and the candidates that they steadfastly support, but also the controversial claim that corporations are people.
